Michel Combes, Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel-Lucent
Michel Combes was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Alcatel-Lucent, effective April 1, 2013. Previously, from October 2008, Michel was Chief Executive Officer, Europe Region, of Vodafone and was appointed to the Board in June 2009 He began his career at France Telecom in 1986 in the External Networks Division, and then moved to the Industrial and International Affairs Division. After being technical advisor to the French Minister of Transportation from 1991 to 1995, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GlobeCast from 1995 to 1999.
Michel was Executive Vice President of Nouvelles Frontières Group from December 1999 until the end of 2001 when he moved to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Assystem-Brime, a company specializing in industrial engineering. He returned to France Telecom Group in January 2003 as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Executive Vice President. Until January 2006, he was Senior Executive Vice President, in charge of NExT Financial Balance & Value Creation and a member of the France Telecom Group Strategic Committee. From 2006 to 2008, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TDF Group.
Basil Alwan, President, IP Division and Head of Portfolio Strategy, Alcatel-Lucent
Basil is President of IP Routing and Transport for Alcatel-Lucent Formerly, Basil was the founder, President and CEO of TiMetra, a venture backed Silicon Valley start-up focused on service routers for IP/MPLS networks TiMetra was acquired by Alcatel in 2003 to form the IP Division. Since that point, Alcatel-Lucent has seen continuous growth achieving its first $1 billion revenue year in 2007 and passing the $2B mark in 2011. The division now holds the #2 position in service provider IP/MPLS routing. In 1984 Basil Alwan graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Dave Geary, President, Wireless Division, Alcatel-Lucent
Dave Geary is the head of the Wireless Division of Alcatel-Lucent. In this position he has responsibility for the company's entire wireless offerings ranging from small cells to 4G, and including the lightRadio ™ product portfolio. Before that he was the President for the Wireline Division within the Networks Group where he focused the portfolio and brought the division back to profitability. This business is responsible for addressing all fixed broadband access products including xDSL and GPON, our Multi-Service Access portfolio, along with our IMS core, fixed NGN and legacy circuit switching products. Prior to his current position, Dave was in charge of the Multicore Business Division, addressing the fixed and mobile Next-Generation Networks (NGN) as well as the existing fixed mature business. He holds a Masters in Management degree from Northwestern University and BSEE from Bradley University.
Federico Guillen, President, Fixed Networks Division, Alcatel-Lucent
Federico Guillén is the Fixed Networks Division President. He was President of Alcatel-Lucent Spain and Telefónica GAM from 2009. Previously, Federico was Vice President Vertical Market Sales in Western Europe. During the period 2007-2009, he led the Regional Support Centre for Europe & South within Fixed Access Division. Before that, Federico Guillén was Alcatel’s Country Senior Officer in Mexico and Telmex GAM based in Mexico DF. In this period Federico witnessed the benefits of broadband in the Mexican society as a consequence of massive DSL deployments in the country.
Federico Guillén holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, a Master’s degree in Switching & Communication Architectures from the ETSIT and an International Master in Business Management
Andrew McDonald, President, Platforms Division, Alcatel-Lucent
Andrew McDonald is the President of the Platforms Division. The Platforms Division includes the software assets and services that enable our customers to provide valuable services quickly and easily into the marketplace. The core lines of business within this group are Advanced Communications, Customer Experience, Payment, Policy & Charging, Cloudband, Network Intelligence, Application Enablement, and Mobile Commerce Before being responsible for the Platforms Division, Andrew was Vice President and GM of NSM (Networks and Services Management) in the IP Division. During his time in NSM he has been responsible for several market leading products including the 5620 SAM, the 9900 Wireless Network Guardian, and the 5780 Dynamic Services Controller.
Andrew was educated at the University of Waterloo where he received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering.
Marcus Weldon, President of Bell Labs and Corporate Chief Technology Officer
As President of Bell Labs and Corporate Chief Technology Officer, Marcus Weldon is responsible for driving the technical strategy across the company and integrating these technological and architectural innovations into the portfolio.
Marcus is considered one of the luminaries in our industry in terms of the clarity, depth and breadth of his vision, and he has a phenomenal track record in terms of picking the right technological disruptions and opportunities, from vectoring in Access, to the evolution to LTE overlay and Small Cells, to the emergence of virtualization and SDN as profound industry changing forces. He is now combining this vision with the power of Bell Labs, to create an unrivalled innovation engine for Alcatel-Lucent.
Marcus holds a B.S in Chemistry and Computer Science from King’s College, London, and a Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from Harvard University. In 1995, he joined the Physics Division at AT&T Bell Labs as a post-doctoral researcher, before becoming a Member of Technical Staff in the Optical Materials Division. He won a series of scientific and engineering society awards for his work on electronic and optical materials.
Tim Krause, Chief Marketing Officer for Alcatel-Lucent
Tim Krause is responsible for Alcatel-Lucent’s global marketing efforts, including its diversification strategy and the development of the company’s business in key segments such as: Cable, Webscale, Large Technical Enterprises, Oil and Gas, Transportation, Utilities, Public Sector and Government driven broadband initiatives.
With over 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry, Tim has held various positions in engineering, product line management, product strategy and marketing. Tim has extensive international marketing experience having held positions including Senior Vice President of Marketing for Alcatel's Fixed Communications Group from 2001 to 2004, and Chief Marketing Officer of Alcatel-Lucent from 2008-2009 based in Paris.
Prior to his current position, Tim served as Senior Vice President, in charge of Alcatel-Lucent’s AT&T customer team, one of the company’s largest accounts. Previously Tim was Senior Vice President Strategy for Alcatel-Lucent’s Americas Region. He also served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Solutions Development where he led the development of Alcatel’s end-to-end offer in IP Video and triple play.
Tim Krause graduated from William Jewell College in 1983 with a degree in Physics and received an MBA in Business Management from the University of Dallas in 1994.
