Recertification

Why do I need to recertify?

  •     Prevent your certification from terminating.
  •     Ensure your skills and knowledge are evolving in lock-step with the continuous changes in IP service routing.
  •     Continue to network with a community of leading-edge Service Routing experts.
  •     Receive an industry-respected diploma attesting to your certification level and accomplishment.
  •     Be able to work toward a higher level certification in the future.

How do I recertify?

    NRS I
Pass a higher level written exam from the NRS II, MRP, 3RP, or SRA tracks
Achieve a higher level certification (NRS II, MRP, 3RP, SRA)
Pass the 4A0-100 exam prior to your certification termination date
    NRS II
Pass a higher level written exam from the MRP, 3RP, or SRA tracks
Achieve a higher level certification (MRP, 3RP, SRA)
Pass the 4A0-C01 composite exam prior to your certification termination date
    MRP
Pass a higher level written exam from the 3RP or SRA track

    SRA
Pass any of the SRA recertification exams prior to your certification termination date. Refer to https://networks.nokia.com/src/recertification for additional details.

When will my certification expire?

Your certification will expire three years from when your certification was awarded. If you achieve a higher level certification, the expiration and termination dates for all of your certifications will be reset to the date of the higher level certification. Writing higher level exams will reset the date of the certification to three years from date of the higher level exam.

When will I be eligible to recertify?

You can recertify at any time. Ensure that you recertify prior to your certification termination date.

What happens if I don’t recertify?

If you do not recertify prior to your certification termination date, your certification will be terminated. Once a certification is terminated, you lose all benefits of the certification. You will also need to meet all original certification requirements again to re-obtain the certification. If you do re-obtain it, you will be issued a new certification ID and diploma.

What is the difference between termination and expiration?

Expiration is the date three years after which your certification was awarded. You can still recertify while in an expired state. Termination is the date six months after that, at which point you must restart your certification track.

I have a different question about certifications.

Send an email to learning.services@nokia.com and we will respond to your inquiry.

Why does the remote access site only show "Web Access" after installation on my Windows 10 PC?

If you are having issues logging in to the remote access site on a Windows 10 system, then it is often possible to login to the site by using an IE tab in the Firefox or Chrome browser.

You can get the IE tab for Firefox from this site:

                         https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ie-tab/

You can get the IE tab for Chrome here:

                        https://www.ietab.net/

You may have to restart your browser and login 2-3 times before you get “Full Network Access”.

I deleted my session information email by mistake and do not know my username and password combination to log in to remote session. How do I recover my login information?

Send an email to MyNetworkLab.support@nokia.com with the date and time of your scheduled session and request that your username and password be emailed to you.

I closed the remote access browser window by mistake and can no longer access the routers and the scenario documents. What should I do to access these features again?

Simply open a new browser window and log in to the remote access site again, using the username and password that were emailed to you for the current session.

I rebooted one of the devices  instead of de-configuring it using the de-configure tool. How do I log back in?

Wait a few minutes then telnet back into the device.

I cannot log in to the devices, but I am logged in via remote session.

It is possible that you are trying to access the devices beyond your allotted time slot (three hours), or that you are accessing the wrong lab setup. Check your Scheduled Session Reminder email to confirm the lab ID and the time slot that you were assigned. Verify that you are telnetting to the correct devices by confirming the IP addresses of the devices listed in the Scheduled Session Password email.
It is also possible that you are typing the wrong username or password. If you can see the login prompt on the device, ensure that you log in to the device using the username/password of student/student.

If you type the wrong router login ID/password four times consecutively, the router will prohibit further log in attempts for the next two minutes.

Why does the remote access site only show "Web Access" after installation on my Windows PC?

This is typically caused by an incomplete remote access client installation. Follow the steps listed below to fix the issue:

Windows 7

Locate the Aventail Installers in C or D drive under "Users\<your_PC_login_id>\AppData\Roaming\Aventail\deploy"

Execute the ngvpn.msi and ewpca.msi installers by double clicking on each executable to complete the installation

Windows 10

If you are having issues logging in to the remote access site on a Windows 10 system, then it is often possible to login to the site by using an IE tab in the Firefox or Chrome browser.

You can get the IE tab for Firefox from this site:

                         https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ie-tab/

You can get the IE tab for Chrome here:

                        https://www.ietab.net/

You may have to restart your browser and login 2-3 times before you get “Full Network Access”.

What causes remote access manager to fail with error message "epiMsiBootstraper.exe could not be executed"?

This error message is seen on a Windows Operating Systems if the Windows Updates are not applied. It is recommended to have all Microsoft Updates applied including Microsoft.NET Framework.

How do I access the lab routers after I have successfully logged into the remote access site?

You can use any standard telnet utility such as PuTTY, CRT or hyperterm to telnet to the routers.

Alternatively, you can also type telnet <device_IP_address>  in the Windows command terminal if the telnet client service is enabled on your PC. Example: telnet 192.168.189.228

I keep getting the following message when I try to execute a command on the 7750 router:

“MINOR: CLI TACPLUS profile configuration for user "student" does not exist.
MINOR: CLI Command not allowed for this user.”

This is a warning message indicating that the command that you are trying to execute is not allowed on the router because it is an administrative-level command. Only an administrator user can execute this command.

Can I use the Chrome browser to login to remote access?

No, Chrome has phased out support for Java plug-ins. Currently the remote access site does not have an alternate plug-in type supported by Chrome.

My Network Lab Access Login (remote access Login) does not work as I am unable to login to access the lab devices during my session time.

o    Check your login time and time zone selection. The session times are in 24 hour clock military time.
o    The remote access client login will only work during your designated time. Please note that the default time zone is Eastern Standard Time on the My Network Lab schedule calendar page.

Why can I not telnet to the routers even though I have logged in to the remote access site successfully with “Full Network Access” displayed on the top of the screen?

You may not have not disabled your VPN connection before logging into the remote access site from home. Disconnect your VPN connection and log into the site using your Internet connection when connecting from home.

My Network Lab FAQ - My SR Lab

I closed the remote access browser window by mistake and can no longer access the routers and the scenario documents. What should I do to access these features again?

Simply open a new browser window and log in to the remote access site again, using the username and remote access Client password that were emailed to you.

I rebooted one of the routers instead of deconfiguring it using the deconfigure tool. How do I log back in?

Wait a few minutes then telnet back into the router.

I cannot log in to the routers, but I am logged in via remote access.

It is possible that you are trying to access the routers beyond your allotted time slot (three hours), or that you are accessing the wrong lab setup. Check your Scheduled Session Reminder email to confirm the lab ID and the time slot that you were assigned. Verify that you are telnetting to the correct routers by confirming the IP addresses of the routers listed in the Scheduled Session Password emai.
It is also possible that you are typing the wrong username or password. If you can see the login prompt on the router, ensure that you log in to the routers using the username/password of student/student.

If you type the wrong router login ID/password four times consecutively, the router will prohibit further log in attempts for the next two minutes.

I cannot save my configurations to the FTP server.

Ensure that you are using the correct FTP user ID and password in your admin save command; that is, the FTP userid and password that was emailed to you. Also check that you are saving your configs to the correct path. Please note that you cannot save your configurations to the compact flash drive on the router.
Example 1:  admin save             invalid
    Example 2:  admin save testconfig.cfg     invalid
    Example 3:  admin save ftp://userid:password@mynetworklab/R1/testconfig.cfg   invalid,
    Example 4:  admin save ftp://userid:password@mynetworklab/STD/R1/testconfig.cfg   valid

Why am I not able to load a scenario config file from the FTP server using the CLI commands on the router?

Please check that that you are entering the full pathname including the "Lab Type" directory of the scenario config file using the following notation:
exec ftp://your_username:your_ftpPassword@mysrlab/LabType/router_number/config_file_name
The possible values for "LabType" are:
STD - Standard Lab
QoS - QoS Lab
LTE - LTE Lab
MBH - MBH Lab
For example: exec ftp://jsmith:ghjnb45t@mysrlab/STD/R1/nrs2_s1_start_r1.cfg
See the MySRLab Getting Started Guide for more details.

I keep getting the following message when I try to execute a command on the router:

“MINOR: CLI TACPLUS profile configuration for user "student" does not exist.
MINOR: CLI Command not allowed for this user.”

This is a warning message indicating that the command that you are trying to execute is not allowed on the router because it is an administrative-level command. Only an administrator user can execute this command.

Why do I not see the "Load Start Configuration" links on my My SR Lab Personalized page during my lab session time?

You need to log in to your My Network Lab Personalized page with your session password during your lab session time in order to use the "Load Start Configuration" utility. Double check to make sure that you have not logged in using your document access password

Why can I not telnet to the routers even though I have logged into remote access successfully with Full Network Access?

There are several reasons why this may happen. The most common reasons are listed below:
1.    You have logged into the session in the first 5 minutes of the session time. The routers are in a setup state at this time and may not be accessible. Wait a few minutes and try again.
2.    You may have logged in few minutes prior to your session time. The routers are being deconfigured and reset at this time and are not accessible. Wait 5 minutes pass the start of your session time and try again.
3.    You may have logged into remote access using your document password instead of the session password.

Will my scenario documents expire?

No, the scenario documents will not expire after they have been purchased.

The My S RLab Getting Started Guide suggest that there is a "Deconfigure All Routers" link available in my Personalized page. Why can I not find this link on my My Network Lab personalized page?

The "Deconfigure All Routers" link is only available when you login to your My Network Lab Personalized page with your session password during your session time slot.

My Network Lab FAQ - My Nuage Networks Lab

Why does the VSD not recognize the VM that I just created on the VRS?

Ensure that the VRS script metadata parameters match the names on the VSD. Note that the script metadata parameters are case sensitive.
As an example, if the following command was used to create the VM:
./create_vm.sh Ent1_BL1 "Enterprise 1" "appuser" "domain1" "App" "BL Sub1"

Then ensure that the VSD has an enterprise defined as “Enterprise 1” and the E is capitalized and has a space between e and 1. Similarly, the VSD should have a user called “appuser”, a domain  called “domain1”, a zone called “App” and a subnet called “BL_Sub1”.

How do I get the VNC Viewer for the Nuage lab exercises?

The VNC Viewer is a freeware utility that can be downloaded from the RealVNC site or the TightVNC site or the many other alternative VNC Viewer client download sites on the Internet .

Why am I unable to access the VM that I just created?

Those VMs are only accessible via VNC. To VNC into the VMs, please use the hypervisor’s management IP address and correct VNC port number which you can find out by performing the command “virsh vncdisplay <vm name>” on the hypervisor.

Why am I unable to ping between two VMs that I just created?

Check the security policies on the VSD. By default, the security policy is set to deny all ingress traffic on the OVS.
