This infographic charts the long and illustrious history of the humble copper telephone line, from Alexander Graham Bell’s original invention to our Bell Labs researchers' reinvention of copper as a way of providing true gigabit Internet services. The Bell Labs XG-FAST prototype achieved a world-record speed of 10 Gbps over a distance of 30 meters using two pairs of copper lines.
