SDN & Openflow World Congress

Date:
October 10-14, 2016
Location:
World Forum - Churchillplein 10 - 2517 JW The Hague - The Netherlands

Nokia, as a partner in cloud based network solutions, will be present at the SDN & Openflow World Congress 2016 -- Europe’s principle network evolution conference and its largest showcase of NFV and SDN innovation. More than 2,000 industry leaders, users and solution innovators will be on hand to discuss and exchange knowledge on how NFV, SDN, MANO and Open Networking is providing the next generation of telecoms infrastructure, services and applications.

This year’s 5G Core & Transport Forum will be co-located  at the event. From vEPC to SD-Backhaul to Microwave, mobile transport and core networking innovators will examine the influence of new SDN and NFV architectures on the evolution of mobile network infrastructure.

Interactive agenda is available at: http://www.layer123.com/sdn-agenda

Nokia’s presence

As both a Diamond of SDN & Openflow World Congress and a 5G Core & Transport Forum sponsor, Nokia will have a strong presence at the event. You will be able to meet and hear from executives, experts and speakers from both Nokia and Nuage Networks –a Nokia venture providing best-in-class SDN solutions. Based on our cloud portfolio (incl. Nokia AirFrame Data Center solutions, Nokia CloudBand MANO, Nokia Network Services Platform and Nuage Networks SDN solutions, etc.), we will showcase enterprise vCPE and SD-WAN, end-to-end services, dynamic IP/optical network services, and illustrate how operations can be simplified and supported by  end-to-end orchestration and service/network assurance.

Nokia Pre-Conference Workshop

Nokia will host a pre-conference workshop open to customers and analysts on Monday October 10 from 15:.30 to 17:30.

ETSI Activities

Nokia will participate to the ETSI NFV Tutorial on Monday October 10 from 9:00 to 10:40:
9:05 - 9:45,  Uwe Rauschenbach, representing the IFA (interface and architecture) WG,
and also Thinh Nguyenphu, Nokia Network Architect (Welcome & introduction; release 2 results; closing remarks).

Nokia will also participate to the ETSI MEC MOBILE COMPUTING FORUM on Thursday October 13 from 15:30 to 18:00:
16:40 - 17:20 - Uwe Rauschenbach (MEC architecture and APIs)
The work of the MEC initiative aims to unite the telco and IT-cloud worlds, providing IT and cloud-computing capabilities within the RAN (Radio Access Network). The ISG MEC will specify the elements that are required to enable applications to be hosted in a multi-vendor Mobile-edge Computing environment.

Demonstrations

We will have a booth where the following three demos will be shown:

Demo 1

5G end-to-end Dynamic Network Slicing
Dynamic Network Slicing enables the design, deployment, customization, and optimization of different network slices running on a common network infrastructure.
Leveraging innovations in cloud mobile access and core and capitalizing on the capabilities of software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and shared data layer (SDL), this demonstration presents the service creation process, how the service is mapped to a slice and how the overall process is orchestrated across mobile edge, core and application clouds.
Specifically, we will show how SDN helps dynamically program a microwave transport network, and how advanced microwave radio features such as carrier aggregation can be leveraged to address the varying types of transport requirements.

Demo 2

Network Services Platform (NSP Demo)
As SDN projects move from  limited live trials to broad deployment and commercialization, providers are discovering that it takes more than just SDN automation and optimization to deliver dynamic multi-layer SDN services. Integrated assurance capabilities are required to ensure SDN services are operational, and that requested services SLAs are always met. Assurance capabilities also need to become just as dynamic and efficient as the SDN networks they support. KPIs/analytics can be used to trigger assurance polices that work with the SDN control layer to ensure critical SLAs are met, serious network congestion is avoided, and optimal use is made of IP/optical assets. Flows can be redirected, new multi-layer paths established, or existing paths can be resized dynamically – all driven by KPIs/analysis/correlations from IP and optical layers, and from physical and virtual domains.

This demonstration will outline:

  • Dynamic IP/optical service creation and turn-up with the Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP)
  • How the NSP’s integrated services assurance capabilities ensure service continuity and SLAs

Demo 3

Service Orchestration
On our booth we will be discussing and demonstrating the different Enterprise service delivery models using both Nuage and CloudBand to combine SDN network deployment with Network service orchestration. The combination of SDN and NFV gives Enterprise and service providers great agility in the services they consume or wish to deliver and greatly reduce the total cost of solution ownership.

Moreover we will run a joint demo with Intel on their booth:  Cloud Validation and Verification (Clover) toolset. This demo is a critical element in assessing the status of the cloud setup and then using the results to index the capability of that cloud and make a comparison with the VNF characteristics to see if the cloud is indeed suitable for a specific VNF. This is a critical step in any VNF on boarding process and the performance and behaviour of a VM within the cloud can vary greatly due to many factors.

We hope you will be able to join us at this key industry gathering and to stop by our booth to discuss and meet with our experts.
