5G System of Systems
5G will be a system of systems that extends far beyond radio. To achieve the flexibility required for 5G, operators will need cognitive, cloud-optimized networks that support seamless operation.
These cognitive networks will optimize themselves autonomously. They will use big data analytics and artificial intelligence to perform optimization tasks that are too complex for humans.
5G will implement the cloud paradigm in all parts of the network to make the best possible use of existing resources. 5G networks will be programmable, software driven, and managed holistically. Beyond 2020, communication systems will need to be flexible enough to accommodate a huge range of use cases without increasing management complexity.
