Nokia Networks’ In-building Solutions (IBS) extend voice and data coverage where it’s most needed - by 2014, an estimated 80 percent of traffic is expected to be generated within buildings it can enhance quality, improve Mobile Broadband throughput and add capacity for greater usage indoors.
IBS integrates seamlessly with your existing network. It’s designed to address specific commercial and technical requirements, improving the service for your end-users.
The rise of the smartphone, along with a trend for bandwidth-hungry apps and services, is driving an unprecedented surge in High Speed Data and voice traffic. At the same time, subscribers are demanding more from their networks – faster data speeds, better coverage and higher bandwidth – whether they’re on the move or indoors.
Around 85 percent of data traffic and 70 percent of voice traffic is generated indoors or within buildings. LTE in-building environments require even more focus to dedicated coverage and capacity to provide users the required high data throughputs. Nokia Networks’ IBS framework is based on three pillars:
Simplicity: In-Building solutions is an end-to-end solution with a special focus on system design, build and project management with best in class IBS products. With Nokia Networks you’ll have a one-stop-shop with a single point of accountability for the entire IBS solution.
Flexibility: Our lean and efficient delivery models bring you state-of-the-art solutions at competitive prices. We have refined our methods using our experience of working with operators around the world for over 18 years.
Quality: We commit to end-to-end KPIs and SLAs tailored to your specific network coverage, quality and capacity requirements.
Creating in-building networks
At the core of our IBS offering is the IBS Distributed Antenna System (DAS). It distributes cellular radio frequencies (RF) to a network of antennas within a building to provide improved cellular coverage.
Our in-building solutions include strategy creation, architecture design for specific requirements, planning and scoping dimensions, supply, project management, full implementation, testing, optimization and seamless integration of the IBS solution within the Macro network environment.
The business benefits
- Enhanced indoor capacity and coverage is secured by continuous traffic profile , patterns and service quality monitoring
- Improved ARPU from tapping into hidden traffic inside buildings
- Reduced churn and improved customer satisfaction due to enhanced penetration and reach of the network
- Lower build costs through optimized use of spectrum and trunking efficiency as well as smart configuration which reduces the number of antennas required
- Multi-band and multi-carrier transmission accommodate all carrier and Wi-Fi frequencies
- Optimized coverage resulting e.g. from a detailed assessment of traffic usage patterns and meticulously planned antenna placement and selection
- Future expansion is supported through industry leading IBS and Small Cells solutions
